Our Visitors from Catholic Youth Leaders

We had Catherine, Kirsten and James visit our classroom to work with the students.  We started with warm up games, learnt about Saints and talked about being like Jesus.  We enjoyed an afternoon of varied activities, including role play.

Magpie Players Visit St Mary's School & Our Commonwealth Games Afternoon

On Tuesday 2 players from the Magpies Rugby Team visited St Mary's School.

They answered lots of questions from the children.

On Wednesday our school council organised an afternoon where all the students participated in a variety of fun activities outside.  This afternoon was based on the recent Commonwealth Games.
Thanks to the school council for organising the afternoon.

Toby was away on the day the Magpie players visited.
Here they have his Gold Star Library Certificate.
Congratulations Toby!

Crazy about Fractions

As part of our learning about fractions in maths, we created a picture using fraction pieces.

We had to carefully cut our fraction circles because if we didn't, we would end up with jagged edges around our circles.

The goal was to create a symmetrical picture using fraction bits.  We had to cut the circles into halves, quarters, eighths, sixteenths etc.  Next we had to carefully place our fraction bits where they needed to be to create our picture.  This meant we had to be patient and not rush.
