Room 4 Heart Dissection

Lochy, Will, Jacob and Sam really want to know what is inside.
We are learning about the human body.  Today we dissected a lamb's heart.  We were able to see inside it and feel it.  Overall we coped very well with this experience and were fascinated to see what a real heart looks like.

Budding scientists …
Joshua and Ben carefully study the inside of a heart.  We were surprised to see that it looked like  muscle inside.  It had some large blood vessels which looked like tubes.  Part of the heart is called an aorta.  There were some very strong fibres inside too.  These were very difficult to break.

  1. Wow, what an amazing experience to have! I think I would have been a bit squirmish but I know you were all so sensible. I hope you learnt a lot from that hands on activity. Do you think it looks a lot like our heart?

  2. What a neat experience, Room 4. I wonder if this means some of you will go on to be doctors or vets?
