Today we had Ryan and Miles come to teach us soccer skills (whoops! I mean football skills!).  We practised dribbling skills, stopping quickly with the ball and contact skills using the ball.

Hockey Coaching from our expert Gary - Session 1

Today we started our hockey coaching.  We will have 5 sessions where our coach, Gary,  will come to our school to work with all classes.  This is fantastic opportunity to develop our hockey skills.

We all participate in a warm up game using a tennis ball.

Gary shares some tips …

Here's our chance to ude the hockey stick and ball.  We know how to find the right sized stick for us.

We are great listener's in room 4.  We follow instructions well.  Good job room 4!

Maths

We are learning about algebra patterns.  We have been building "factories" to help us understand patterns in numbers.  We have to know how to continue a pattern, find the rule for the pattern and look at relationships between patterns.  Here are some photos showing us working together at the start of our unit.

Megan and Rubi work together on their factory algebra.
Jacob and Flynn use equipment to build their factories first.
This helps them to know how the factories are "growing" each time.

Lily uses the whiteboard to record her thinking.  It is interesting how many ways we can tackle this problem.

More Photos from Oliver Twist …

Here are a few more photos from Oliver Twist …

The children look fantastic in their costumes.
Matthew and Megan set the scene as the narrators.
The workhouse children look on as Oliver talks about how hungry he is.
Samuel as Mr Bumble.  He has come to see what all the fuss is about!
The cast sing Food, Glorious Food

All room 4 and 5 sing!
Watch out for the Artful Dodger, Charlie Bates and the team of pick-pockets!
Keelan as Fagin - Boss of the pick-pockets.  He has his eye on Oliver - perhaps as a future pick-pocket.
